Biography

Edward Ellsworth is an inspiring Chief Executive Officer and full spectrum human being. Ed has an extensive background in business management, media production, AV production, live streaming, IT, network management, video engineering, technical direction, and web design. 

With more than 35 years of experience across the media production industry, Ed is currently the CEO and Video Producer of Enlightened Films. He founded this California S-corporation production company in 2015. As Chief Executive Officer, where he produces shows, videos, and websites for clients. Ed has worked with numerous clients, through the AV staffing agency Williams Signal. Ed has worked for these clients as Technical Director, Video Engineer, Live Switcher, Live Streamer or Camera Operator – Mountain View Staging, Four Moon Productions, Webb Productions, Conference Recording Services, AVC Anton Video Concepts, Immersive AV, Video Tech Services, and The AVent Techs on various shows and conferences.

Before creating Enlightened Films, Edward was an Independent Producer and Technical Consultant for various clients. During this time, his production services included graphics, compositing, camera work, video editing, and compression for the web, CD, and DVD. Along with his professional career, his interests include peace and environmental activism, with a passion for nuclear issues. Ed has served on the board of directors and management of Sunrise Center, and was Associate Director of its retreat center on Maui, Hale Akua Garden Farm. Ed is currently on the board of directors of Chaksampa, a Tibetan dance and opera nonprofit.

Edward attended the Master’s Program in Research Psychology at California State University San Francisco, completing ABT. He received a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Psychology, and Comparative Literature, from California State University Long Beach in 1979. Before that, he received an Associate of Science from Cypress College, and Psychiatric Technician Certification and licensure.

Chief Operating Officer – International MedCom
• Assisted CEO in putting International MedCom back together in a new location, working in all top management areas, and shipping $3M of Geiger counters within a few months to Japan after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. Supported setup of SafeCast radiation detection network in Japan.
• Took over for the COO who had an emotional breakdown from stress from the high demand for Geiger Counters. Responsible for setting up IT and Accounting services on a Windows NT Server 2008 and a network of PCs and Macs. Set up and managed email, websites, and all IT services.
• Responsible for marketing and sales, and improved MedCom accounting practices.
• Handled product sales, restructured vendor purchases and financial transactions to manage the cash flow better.

• Working with Mark/Space, supported QA and technical support for Mac software for syncing with handheld devices via USB, Bluetooth, and WiFi. Managed email support answers to customers in sales and support queues and beta test software on Smartphones, Pocket PCs, Palm OS devices, and hiptops (T-Mobile SideKick II).
• Assisted on the Cerberus trouble ticket system, write KnowledgeBase web articles, find customer records in Order Manager and BOSS, log test results Test Track databases.

• Worked with the Maui Visitors Bureau with the Let’s Get Mauied video campaign.

• Consulted with money management firm in Europe on a Solar Policy project to set up a computer graphics department.

• Supported nonprofit organizations using audio/visual resources, typesetting and training with Macs and PCs in a desktop publishing and communications network. 
• Worked with Apple Multimedia Developers, Department of Commerce briefings on import/export with the Soviets, joint ventures, satellite and video conferences, monitored the Molniya satellite, and other technical support.

• Founded this company and developed typesetting sales of $40,000 a month. 
• Operated large format Linotronic Postscript film laser printer. Developed the film in the darkroom with an Oscar Fisher chemical film processor.
• Structured and administered the business, purchased equipment, performed marketing, hired and trained staff, directed sales force.
• Set up a BBS-based remote computer file collection service.

• Founded this company for consulting, sale and support of multi-user computers. 
• Clients included NASA, Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Macintosh developers.
• Created conferencing systems, database accounting systems, telex and e-mail on packet-switching networks. 
• Sponsored and operated one of the first public electronic conferences (“Information Access in the Future”).
• Designed and developed a desktop publishing service called Design Net; and Board Link, a computer conferencing system for Board of Director’s meetings.
